At Canadapets, we are committed to protecting your privacy. We only use the information we collect to process your orders and to provide a more personalized shopping experience for you.

What information do we collect? How do we use it?

When you register with us, we need to know your name, e-mail address, and mailing address. This lets us notify you of your order status and helps make your shopping experience more enjoyable. When you order, we need to know your credit card number and expiration date. This allows us to process and fill your order. We may also use the information we collect to occasionally notify you about important functionality changes to the Web site, new Canadapets services and special offers we think you'll find valuable. If you would rather not receive this information, please email us to let us know your preferences.

How does Canadapets protect customer information?

When you place orders or access your account information, we use a secure server - Internet Secure of Oakville, Ontario. The secure server software (SSL) encrypts all information you input before it is sent to us. Furthermore, all of the customer data we collect is protected against unauthorized access.

Aftre you make your selection from our Order Form page and the " Submit " button is pressed, you are transferred to Internet Secures' encrypted transaction screen. At which point you will see the following message :

You are about to conduct a secure realtime credit card transaction which will be authorized by your Bank. Please stay connected to our site as your bank will issue you an authorization number and we will provide an electronic receipt you can print for your records. To ensure privacy, your credit card number is NOT kept on our system or passed to the merchant.

Authorization of your credit card will take approximately 15 to 30 seconds (depending on your Internet connection). Netscape users will see a closed padlock on the toolbar when encryption security (SSL) is activated. Microsoft Internet Explorer users will see a closed padlock icon in the lower right hand corner.

From this point on in the transaction, all information provided is fully secured by SSL and Internet Secure.

Who is Internet Secure and how do I know I can trust them?

Internet Secure provides our 24-hr real-time credit card transaction platform through the Bank of Nova Scotia.  We encourage our clients to visit them directly by clicking on the link opposite to learn more about them.

What about "Cookies"?

"Cookies" are small pieces of information that are stored by your browser on your computer's hard drive. Our cookies do not contain any personally identifying information, but they do enable us to personalize and enhance your shopping experience with us. Most Web browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can usually change your browser to prevent that. Even without a cookie, you can still use most of the features in our store, including placing items in your shopping cart and purchasing them.

Disclosure of information collected ?

Canadapets does not sell, trade, or rent your personal information collected on our web site to others.

What about unsolicited email ( Spam ) ?

Canadapets does not engage in any unsolicited email whatsoever.  From the time of order placement through our service to the time of product delivery you will receive only 2 e-mails.  One will be an Order Confirmation to let you know that we received your order and have processed it on your behalf.   The second e-mail sent will be to inform you of your shipment tracking information which allows you to actually track the order online or over the telephone in real-time - right to your door.  We do not retain a "Mailing List" or send out occasional "Specials" mailers of any kind - unlike the vast majority of our competition.  Nor do we divulge any information collected on a client to any other source.
